As a character in the films, she played an aspiring socialite as well as a CIA analyst, she was awarded Academy Award nominations in The Help (2011) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The science fiction films Interstellar (2014), The Martian (2015) and It Chapter Two (2018) were commercially more successful. Chastain gained further praise for playing strong-willed women in the dramas A Most violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016) and Molly's Game (2017), and in the TV miniseries Scenes from a Marriage (2021). She then played Tammy Faye Bakker in the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021) which won her the Academy Award for Best Actress as well as Tammy Wynette in the miniseries George & Tammy (2022). Chastain is the creator of the production firm Freckle Films, which was designed to increase diversity in film. She also is an shareholder in the soccer club Angel City FC.
