April Ross

April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball athletes to win medals more than once at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross in Tokyo in order to claim her third gold medal over the coming days. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. The next opportunity she gets as she is 39 years old. However, she's convinced that top prizes can be achieved. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best or play a great game, she believes the team can win a gold medal. Then I will also take the opportunity to try my chances. Ross was born in the city of Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents and sister resided there. At Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. She was a basketball player and also ran track in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements as a prep athlete. She stood out however during this game. In her college volleyball season in her university biography she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her as the National Player 1999. Her skills in volleyball won her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in the year 2000. Ross is currently playing alongside Klineman since the year 2017 but her beach game was well-established long before the year. The American has been a major winner in events twice, with various partners. One of them is an icon in the volleyball world. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 through 2013. Along with Kessy, Ross won a World Title in 2009 while competing in the international circuit. In 2012, the duo took silver in London's Olympic Games. They were defeated for the gold by the legendary group of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. Together, they took home beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Following high school, and for a few several years prior to hitting the beach as a professional Ross played with the Trojans of USC as an NCAA. And her run at USC was one to remember. In 2000 she was voted Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman Of The Year and an All-American. The Trojans had the chance to make it to the Final Four with her help. The Trojans suffered a significant personal defeat in her sophomore year but was still successful in achieving the All-American award. Through her last two years as a player, she led the Trojans up to the summit of the mountain netting three consecutive championships at the national level. She was a great volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player at the college level. Ross was a USC international relations student was a star in volleyball. Sadly, Ross mother Margie did not get to see Ross's daughter reach the highest levels of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross suffered the loss of her mother to breast cancer in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. But she still keeps her mother in her heart. And Margie is an ongoing source of inspiration to her on the beaches and throughout her daily life.
